Electrical Safety Responsibilities for Managers & Duty Holders
Managing electrical safety within an organisation brings significant responsibilities. Those responsible need to understand the standards expected of electrical work, ensure people carrying out electrical tasks are competent and maintain appropriate systems, procedures and documentation.
MCP Technical Training's Electrical Duty Holder Training is a highly interactive one-day course designed to develop an understanding of the responsibilities associated with managing electrical engineering activities within an organisation.
Delivered live via Microsoft Teams, the course covers relevant statutory and non-statutory regulations, electrical hazards, competence, company procedures, safe isolation and the auditing of workplace electrical systems.
It provides Electrical Duty Holders with the knowledge needed to understand their role and support the safe and effective management of electrical activities within their organisation.
UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE
of an Electrical Duty Holder
An Electrical Duty Holder is appointed by an organisation with responsibility for maintaining the overall standard and quality of electrical work.
The role also includes ensuring that those carrying out electrical work are competent to undertake the range of tasks required of them.
Electrical Duty Holders may be responsible for electrical engineering activities across the organisation, acting as a main point of contact and helping to ensure that electrical work is assigned appropriately, undertaken by competent people and suitably supervised.
They also have responsibilities relating to health and safety and other legal requirements, as well as ensuring that appropriate certificates and reports are issued for completed electrical work.
IS THIS COURSE
Right for You?
The Electrical Duty Holder Workshop is designed for those who have, or are preparing to take on, responsibility for electrical engineering activities and electrical safety within an organisation. It is particularly relevant to:
» Electrical Duty Holders
» Engineering Managers
» Maintenance Managers
» Electrical Managers and Supervisors
» Managers responsible for electrical engineering activities
» Personnel responsible for assigning electrical work
» Those responsible for assessing or managing electrical competence
» Managers with health and safety responsibilities relating to electrical work
» Organisations looking to strengthen the management and oversight of electrical activities
Delegates should have achieved a pass at GCSE level in Science or Physics, or equivalent or an electrical qualification.
WHAT WILL YOU
Be Able to Do?
By the end of Part 1 you will be able to:
» Understand the basic principles of electricity used in industrial maintenance
» Work more safely around electrical equipment
» Carry out basic safe isolation procedures
» Identify common electrical components and symbols
» Connect and test simple electrical circuits
» Use basic electrical testing equipment correctly
» Progress confidently onto Mechanical to Electrical Training – Part 2
