PRACTICAL SAFE ISOLATION
Experience
Practical assessment forms an important part of the Electrical Safety and Isolation Workshop.
Alongside developing their theoretical understanding of electrical hazards, protection methods and isolation procedures, delegates undertake an individual practical assessment.
This provides an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of safe isolation and the procedures required when working with electrical equipment.
The combination of theoretical learning and practical assessment helps reinforce a structured approach to electrical safety and safe isolation in the workplace.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND ISOLATION
Workshop
Practical Electrical Safety & Safe Isolation Training
Working safely with electrical equipment requires a clear understanding of electrical hazards, appropriate methods of protection and the correct procedures for safely isolating equipment before work begins.
MCP Technical Training's Electrical Safety and Isolation Workshop provides technicians with an overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations and develops the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out safe and technical isolations in accordance with workplace procedures.
Designed for technicians with no or basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules, this one-day safe isolation course covers the dangers of electricity, methods of protection, isolation procedures, equipment standards and the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
Delegates complete both theoretical and practical assessment, with successful completion leading to a City & Guilds Accreditation Certificate.
DEVELOP A SAFE APPROACH
to Electrical Isolation
Electrical isolation is an important part of working safely with electrical equipment. Before work begins, technicians need to understand the hazards involved, the methods available for protection and the correct procedures to follow.
This electrical safety course provides delegates with a structured introduction to Electrical Safety Rules and Procedures, helping them understand both the principles behind safe working and how appropriate isolation procedures should be implemented.
The workshop also introduces the terminology and paperwork associated with electrical safety and isolation, helping delegates understand their responsibilities and how safe isolation fits within workplace procedures.
By combining underpinning knowledge with individual practical assessment, delegates have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of safe isolation procedures.
IS THIS COURSE
Right for You?
The Electrical Safety and Isolation Workshop is designed for technicians with no or basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules who need to develop their understanding of electrical safety and safe isolation procedures. It is particularly suitable for:
» Maintenance Technicians
» Mechanical Maintenance Engineers developing electrical safety awareness
» Electrical Maintenance Technicians
» Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers
» Operators undertaking appropriate technical activities
» Technicians who need to carry out safe isolations
» Engineering personnel who need a greater understanding of Electrical Safety Rules
» Organisations looking to develop safe isolation capability within their maintenance and engineering teams
WHAT WILL YOU
Be Able to Do?
Following successful completion of the course, delegates will have developed greater understanding and confidence in electrical safety and safe isolation procedures. This includes greater confidence in:
» Recognising the dangers associated with electricity
» Understanding appropriate methods of protection
» Understanding Electrical Safety Rules and Procedures
» Applying appropriate isolation procedures
» Understanding relevant equipment standards
» Understanding the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
» Recognising relevant electrical safety terminology
» Following workplace procedures for safe and technical isolations
» Understanding associated paperwork and compliance requirements
» Demonstrating safe isolation knowledge through theoretical and practical assessment
CITY & GUILDS
Accreditation
Delegates are assessed through both a Written Theoretical Assessment and a Practical Individual Assessment.
The assessments provide an opportunity for delegates to demonstrate their understanding of Electrical Safety Rules and Procedures and their ability to apply safe isolation principles.
Delegates must successfully complete the course and pass both assessments to achieve a City & Guilds Accreditation Certificate.
