Mechanical to Electrical (M2E) Training Programme

Develop the electrical knowledge and practical skills of mechanically biased engineers through our progressive four-part Mechanical to Electrical Training Programme.

Starting with electrical fundamentals and safe working before progressing through motor control, fault finding, diagnostics and PLCs, the programme provides a structured pathway towards greater electrical competence.

Successful completion of Parts 2, 3 and 4, including passing the final examination, leads to the associated City & Guilds accreditation.

CASE STUDIES

Maintenance Development Centres

for a Global Beverage Company

One of the world’s most recognised tea and beverage brands, has built a global reputation for quality and consistency.

At the heart of this success is a strong engineering and maintenance function, responsible for ensuring reliability across a highly automated production environment.

Aerospace & Defence

Electrical Inspection & Testing Training

Food & Beverage

for a Major UK Airport

This short self-assessment has been designed to help you reflect on how your maintenance team currently performs across key areas, including skills, safety, training, and future readiness.

Whether you are establishing your maintenance strategy or refining an existing framework, this diagnostic will help you identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for development. Your responses will highlight where a structured approach, such as MDC, could support your goals and enhance your team’s performance.

FMCG Factories

How Investing in Engineers Saved

Over 1,200 Hours of Downtime in Just Two Years

The business was concerned about excessive machine downtime caused by electrical breakdowns. Waiting for an available maintenance electrician to attend each breakdown led to significant lost time.

The heads of engineering and production wanted to reduce downtime and improve resilience by equipping mechanical engineers with the skills to resolve selected electrical tasks themselves.

Online Retail

Engineering Training Partnership

for a Leading Online Retailer

The business faced a shortage of skilled engineers to maintain its advanced warehousing systems. Recruiting externally was difficult, so the retailer needed to “grow its own” maintenance team. That required structured programmes covering everything from NVQ Level 3 qualifications to advanced PLC, pneumatics and electrical fault-finding training.

Training also needed to be delivered flexibly, often in line with shift patterns, to minimise disruption to operations.

SHORT GUIDES

PLC Training

Understanding the Systems that

Keep Modern Industry Moving

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are at the heart of modern industrial automation, yet they're often seen as highly specialised or difficult to understand.

In reality, most maintenance engineers don't need to become PLC programmers. They need a practical understanding of how PLC-controlled systems operate, how to diagnose common faults and how to work safely around them.
